Meet Our Founder, Millie Gonzalez
Certified Professional Coach | Educator |Consultant|Facilitator|Change Agent
As a first-generation Afro-Latina coming of age in my Spanish-speaking home, I was constantly merging my two cultures.
I filled my days dancing the bachata and spending afternoons gazing at medieval artifacts at The Cloisters. Summers were dedicated to running on dirt roads with my cousins, sinking our teeth into juicy mangos in the Dominican Republic. For the remainder of the year, I was immersed in the NYC school system.
The bilingual upbringing that my parents instilled in me is why I have such a love and appreciation for my cultural identity. Their hard work and sacrifice for a better life inspired me to share my gifts and talents with the world.
I knew if my parents, immigrants from the Dominican Republic, could overcome their fears and create a beautiful life for our family here in the States, I could do and be anything.
I chose education, and I found great success as an educator. My colleagues considered me a coach and a confidant. On paper, I had reached the top. But something was not connecting; I felt deficient. When I started to struggle with immense anxiety and depression, I knew…
I was doing myself a disservice and needed to make a change.

When I took the time to look around the workplace, I noticed other women of color were also bright-burning successes, but just like me, they were unhappy and unfulfilled. Something was not right. I concluded that:
We were all trying to fit into molds and comply with the status quo, leading us to feel undervalued
We lacked the confidence and security to tap into our intuition and realize the lives we wanted
We were afraid to step into our authentic selves because we struggled with crippling Imposter Syndrome
I knew it was time to wave GOODBYE to the woman who “had it all together.” We were all burnt out from being the “strong friend” and the “reliable listener” who was there for everyone else but ourselves. We were also tired of suppressing the power in our diverse backgrounds and valuable skill sets.
I was doing myself a disservice and needed to make a change.
Esta soy yo…
My Home
I traded Washington Heights, NYC for Washington, DC, but a piece of my heart will always be in the heights (no, that is not a movie reference to an unrealistic adaptation of my hometown).
My Experience
I spent a year living and teaching in Madrid. Tapas anyone?
My Quirks
I banish the fears I have by confronting them head-on, like skydiving, even though I’m terrified of heights. What can I say? It’s a paradoxical problem I can never explain
My Love, Peace, & Joy
Connecting with my spirituality realigns my heart, soul, and mind. I can’t possibly do all this inspiring work without a delicate balance of indulging in life’s little pockets of bliss, like brunching with friends on a warm Sunday, settling into a long conversation with family, or digging into a new book.
My Favorites
Sign me up immediately if any of the following is involved: The beach, NY-style pizza, candy corn, the fall season, and hopping onto a plane with a ticket to anywhere!

But there was one significant problem we couldn’t ignore.
There were few resources for Afro-Latina women like me and my non-white colleagues.
Every organization that I found meant well, but they fell short of seeing and understanding how to cultivate women of color using practical resources. I knew the only way to climb out of the despair I felt and pull others with me was to create a ladder on my own. That “ladder” became my roadmap to success and brought me to my purpose.
Today, I fuse my journey as a first-generation Afro-Latina with robust experience in education, wellness, and life coaching to help women of color achieve an undeniable life of true fulfillment.
For those of you who
Checked all the right boxes, stuck to your success timelines, and did everything by the book but can’t seem to break through from where you are to get to where you want to be…
I see you. And I’m here to help you shatter those limiting beliefs so you can set the world on fire by living and breathing your purpose!
